Most movie theaters are commercial operations catering to the general public, who attend by purchasing a ticket. The movie is projected with a movie projector onto a large projection screen at the front of the auditorium. Is it the explosions in the big special effects sequences? The screams of the victims in the latest horror flick? No, it's the totally unneccessary 'swiiish BOOM' used to punctuate scenes in the trailers. Drives me bananas. A few years ago, the theaters and the studios wised up that the noise level in the trailers was too high, and they toned it down. But lately it's been climbing again.
